Prostate and testicular cancer screening

You will have a 30 minute consultation with our male doctor Dr. Gordon Jones.

Each consultation will include;

• A detailed history of your present urinary symptoms.
• An external genitalia examination of the penis and  testicles.
• Explanation of how to perform a self examination and what to look out for.
• A digital rectal examination to check the prostate and lower rectum for any abnormalities.
• Blood for PSA (prostate specific antigen which is a marker for prostate cancer).
• Urine analysis for pH, blood, protein, glucose, ketones and leucocytes.

If there are signs of infection in the urine an optional, but recommended, urine test can be sent off  to the laboratory for culture and sensitivity testing.This is an additional £15.00.

Blood and urine results usually only take a couple of days to come back. We will write to you with the results when they are available.
