Basic Resuscitation Course

The course is designed  for people with no prior knowledge of resuscitation techniques or for those people who would like to refresh and update their skills.

The techniques used will be in accordance with the latest guidelines set out by The Resuscitation Council.

Teaching is aimed at being informal, relaxed and in small groups. We want you to feel able to ask any questions at any time and to feel comfortable throughout the session. Our aim is for you to leave the course happy and confident in your resuscitation ability.

The course is primarily aimed at resuscitation of adults, but variations when dealing with children will be mentioned.

The course covers:

  • The 'Safe Approach'   situation assessment, infection risk.
  • Checking the responsiveness of the patient 
  • Assessment of the airway , breathing and circulation.
  • When to go for help.
  • How to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation competently.
  • Variations in cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques
    • Resuscitation with two people
    • Mouth-nose-ventilation
    • Resuscitation of babies and younger children (briefly mentioned)
  • How  to turn a patient into the Recovery Position.
  • Problems that may be associated with basic life support.
  • The choking Adult.

There will be ample chance to practise all the techniques learnt on the resuscitation mannequins. Please note this is a 'Hands-on' course.

Certificates of attendance will be issued at the end of the course.

The course length is 1-1.5 hours depending on numbers attending.

The course can be delivered at our premises or at a venue of your choice* .
