Erection Problems
It is estimated that there are approximately 3 million men in the UK with an erection problem. Unfortunately only around 10% ever seek medical help. There are many undiagnosed conditions that can cause erection problems and our screening assessment is designed to detect them.
You will have a 30 minute consultation with our male doctor, Dr. Gordon Jones.
The consultation will consist of:
- A detailed history of the problem along with your past medical history, smoking and alcohol intake and any medications taken.
- Height, weight, BMI measurement.
- A thorough examination of the external genitalia.
- A relevant neurological examination.
- Rectal examination to check the prostate and lower rectum for abnormalities.
- Blood pressure measurement.
- Bloods taken for Lipid profile,Glucose, HbA1C (measures sugar control over preceding month), Thyroid function test,Prolactin, Testosterone hormone levels and PSA (Prostate specific antigen).
- Urine dipstick analysis.
If there are signs of infection in the urine an optional, but recommended, urine test can be sent off to the laboratory for culture and sensitivity testing. This is an additional £15.00.
At the end of the consultation, Dr Jones will discuss the various options and treatments available for your problem along with time to ask questions.
Results of blood and urine tests usually only take a few days to come back to us. We will write to you when the results are available .
We are able to prescribe Viagra, Cialis or Muse, if indicated, following consultation.This carries a separate charge.
